The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding eighth grade students. NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.
Membership is an honor bestowed upon students in the fall of their eighth grade year. Selection for membership is made by the Faculty Council. To be eligible for membership, candidates must be a member of the eighth grade. Candidates must have been in attendance at the school the equivalent of one semester. Students must have a cumulative scholastic average of at least 95.0 for their seventh grade year. Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, citizenship, and character (no more than one office referral). Once approval by the Faculty Council is made, an induction ceremony shall take place in the fall.
