About the Science Department

Throughout the year students at Manteo Middle School develop their understanding of science concepts through a variety of activities within their classroom and within our larger outdoor environment that include hands-on experiments, data collection and analysis. The science teachers provide students with opportunities to learn key scientific concepts through inquiry-based instruction. They reinforce that science is constant, historic, probabilistic, and replicable. The students learn to devise hypotheses, and explanations to make sense of collected evidence. Students are engaged as they develop their ability to examine the world around us.
